I know this is really confusing, but how French Wikipedia does references are different from how English Wikipedia does it. In French Wikipedia, you can just place all the citations at the bottom and put the shorthand on the text. However, in English Wikipedia, the full references has to go directly in the text. Use source editor for this. I recommend asking at WP:Teahouse if you are confused.
