Need an opinion[edit]

Dear DMySon, in the past we both have worked together on school pages so please help to establish notability of this entity. Your opinion matters. -Hatchens (talk) 09:35, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My Dear friend Hatchens, Thank you for this notification. I just checked the article and found this topic notable. It has enough significant coverage that justify the notability criteria. What else you want from me? DMySon (talk) 13:28, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dear DMySon, I have NPP reviewer rights. Whenever I get any doubts with regards to any entity's notability, I generally seek a second opinion. It's always better to take a joint call rather than taking a unilateral call. -Hatchens (talk) 13:52, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hatchens, You are doing good on Wikipedia. If you need any support from me in future, i am here to help. DMySon (talk) 14:10, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup PR hatnote[edit]

Hi @Hatchens: - I'm a volunteer that spends the majority of my time on Wikipedia advising new editors with declined drafts at the AfC help desk. I'm trying to get access to the helper script so I can more easily comment on the draft pages, and was told by Primefac that I need more articles first. You'll see my articles in the new page list more frequently in the next few weeks until I'm successful. I noticed you patrolled this one. Thanks! But then you marked it as PR. I'd like to see your thoughts about why this is promotional, so my future article submissions are better. I can then change whatever is wrong here, and remove the hatnote once consensus is reached. TechnoTalk (talk) 01:14, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As of now, everything seems to be OK! Wikipedia is an open space, let others' contribute to make it more neutral as per WP:NPOV. You can also give a try to it. All the best! -Hatchens (talk) 04:03, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty good at avoiding being promotional, but I took a few days away after writing this and seeing you flagged it, to revisit with a fresh perspective. The key is to source every single thing from independent coverage. I don't want to try to guess what content you're referring to. If you don't remove the promotional content yourself, a best practice is to start a discussion on this page explaining your concerns. If you can't identify any promotional content to be removed, it shouldn't be flagged. After all, if you look at articles that are flagged, you can see that the advert flags can sit there for years. I'll assume we have consensus to remove the flag. I'll leave it for a few more days and see if any other NPPs or education Wikiproject page stalkers care to comment. TechnoTalk (talk) 19:29, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the tag. Feel free to remove any content that still concerns you, but please don't just tag the article without sharing your concerns, as a courtesy. TechnoTalk (talk) 20:48, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Undisclosed paid editing[edit]

Proposed change to XQ page[edit]

Hi,

I work at the XQ Institute, which presents a COI for updating the foundation's Wiki entry. The page is out of date. I would like to propose some changes, please.

Here is what was flagged:

"XQ Institute is an Oakland, California-based nonprofit organization.[1] It describes itself as the nation’s leading organization dedicated to rethinking high school, because "our young people are growing up at a time when the economy, the workforce, and the environment are changing rapidly. And high schools must respond.""

I wrote the second sentence in that paragraph. The source is XQ's website, see this About page. https://xqsuperschool.org/about/

I also proposed adding this paragraph near the end of the entry:

"In 2024 a film called "The First Class" was released about the XQ school Crosstown High. The documentary was directed by Lee Hirsch ("Bully") and follows the founding class of students and teachers at Crosstown High. The public charter school was created by parents, teachers, students and other community members in Memphis, Tennessee to offer project-based learning so students are more engaged and see how what they're learning connects to the real world. Crosstown is also diverse by design, to heal a city scarred by racial segregation, and takes students from all over Memphis. The film is available for free and includes many resources for teachers, parents, students, and other community members to meet XQ's goal: rethinking the high school experience everywhere so all students are prepared for college, career, and whatever comes next."

The source for project-based learning came from another Wikipdedia page. I did the same with the Memphis link and Lee Hirsch and Bully. Here is the website for the First Class if we can site that as the source. https://www.thefirstclass.org/

there's also this article on Bloomberg City News: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-11/-the-first-class-showcases-memphis-xq-charter-school-crosstown-high

Thank you for your help,

Beth Fertig
