Priesthood?[edit]

Anyone know whether he voluntarily resigned as a priest, or was he defrocked after his criminal conviction? --Muzilon (talk) 04:40, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nomen est omen: Finnish pervo means pervert. Nenoniel (talk) 11:59, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, yes, there were many jokes about his surname after he got arrested. But that doesn't really answer my question. Muzilon (talk) 12:07, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Did you meet him? Nenoniel (talk) 12:22, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't live in the USA. My main interest in him is that I tend to agree with his views on the NT Book of Acts. Muzilon (talk) 12:51, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, you did so that now i know that also in English language pervo means perverst. So also in Swedish. Nenoniel (talk) 12:49, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Where was there jokes about his surname? Did he become angry because of the jokes? Nenoniel (talk) 13:23, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Newspapers made jokes about "A Suitable Name".[1][2] And one of the cops involved in his arrest said when he first saw Pervo's email address, he initially thought the name was someone's idea of a prank.[3] I have no idea what Pervo himself thought of people making fun of his surname. Muzilon (talk) 00:33, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Would it be possible to tell these things in the article? Nenoniel (talk) 10:15, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure whether a discussion of nominative determinism is really appropriate in his WP biography. Yes, Cardinal Sin made ironic jokes about his own name, but what Pervo did was not very funny. Muzilon (talk) 02:52, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Was Pervo a father? 109.240.194.154 (talk) 10:43, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
His obituaries made no mention of any children. Muzilon (talk) 10:48, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
An anonymous IP editor has twice added the cryptic Latin phrase nomen est omen to the article. I think this goes against WP:PLAINENGLISH, WP:ASTONISH, and WP:TONE, and have removed it. Muzilon (talk) 08:57, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection[edit]

@El C: Thanks for protecting the page and blocking the persistent troublemaker. Just curious, does WP:BLP actually apply here, as the subject is deceased? Muzilon (talk) 06:27, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime. But you're right, it does not apply. My mistake. El_C 06:31, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
