Genre[edit]

Can I please suggest that the editors warring over Realm of Chaos' genre on this page try discussing the matter rather than just blindly reverting each other's edits, without so much as given an edit summary? Cheers --Pak21 20:22, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

there already are some words on the Bolt Thrower (band) talk page, where similar edits are made... Spearhead 21:58, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
True, but all that's there is assertions one way or the other. Does anyone have a source they're prepared to cite? --Pak21 08:42, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with metal (and related) genres is that no one can ever agree on it. So you'll find lots of sources saying that BTs albums (particularly the 1st 2) are death metal, death grind, grindcore, or even hardcore punk etc etc... However, metal archive states that BT are death metal. [1] BT themselves have often refused to state a specific genre. Their debut album however seems to be very popular in the hardcore punk / crustcore scene as well, leading to more genre confusion. Many bands are troublesome to label. Opeth and Cradle of Filth are two examples of bands whose genre item in the info box gets often changed around a lot. Spearhead 09:47, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's definitely primarily a death metal album, but there's still a lot of deathgrind/grindcore in here and I think that's worth making mention of. Especially since the page for War Master mentions specifically that Realm of Chaos was "dominated by grindcore based blasts and riffs"
My suggestion would be death metal and deathgrind, because that alludes to the grind influence without implying that this is a grind record, because it really isn't much of one. Princessadzy (talk) 07:11, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page.
