Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye → Grumman E-2 Hawkeye – (edited from:Grumman E-2) – Why does Northrop Grumman, a corporation formed in 1994, get credit for an aircraft that first flew in 1960? Rename per WP:AIR/NC. Jane's All the World's Aircraft 1992–93 Schierbecker (talk) 01:25, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose: The "Hawkeye" name should stay in the title, in line with similar aircraft like the Boeing E-3 Sentry and E-7 Wedgetail. GarethBaloney (talk) 20:56, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to remove the Hawkeye moniker, User talk:GarethBaloney. Schierbecker (talk) 21:03, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- In that case, rename to Grumman E-2 Hawkeye. It fits in with all the other pre-1994 Grumman aircraft aside from the EA-6B Prowler, for some reason. GarethBaloney (talk) 21:42, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- Also Northrop Grumman E-8 Joint STARS, both of which I have recently proposed to rename. Schierbecker (talk) 21:54, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

- Oppose - Per WP:AIR/NC, "If the type has been produced by different companies or different company names then consensus should be reached on a case-by-case basis on which to use." The Jane's source you provided above is from the year before the Northrop Grumman merger, so of course it will not refer to it by its current manufacturer. Most sources today refer to the aircraft as a Northrop Grumman product, and therefore WP:COMMONNAME applies. - ZLEA T\C 03:40, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Jane's probably wasn't the best example to use. Though for the record, later editions of Jane's post merger call it the "Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye". Jane's tends to use whatever the current prime contractor's name is for organization. It's worth noting that the B-2 Spirit page was moved to Northrop B-2 Spirit following a brief discussion on the page. It would be nice if we were consistent.
