She's called a "Berkeley native" by San Jose Mercury News, but a couple of editors have changed her birthplace to Richmond, CA. While native is defined as someone born in a particular place, I also see it often loosely used as someone from an area, but not necessarily born there. I've yet to find a source to specifically use "born in" for Boyd. In the interim, there's multiple sources that say she grew up in Richmond, so I'll reword the article to say she grew up there, but remove any mention of where she was born until someone comes up with a verifiable birthplace.—Bagumba (talk) 00:52, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Her college profile lists hometown as Berkeley[4]. I usually don't trust stat listings, as they often confuse hometown as being their birthplace. Even Cal Bears listing her hometown as Berkeley is confusing, as I'm seeing most sources saying she grew up in Richmond. Yeah but it's the best we got. Those who added Richmond, can they verify it? I don't see where Richmond = birthplace apart from connections to her childhood. Berkeley seems to be the most likely option. I know sources like RealGM often confuses birthplace with hometown, but would the WNBA? Perhaps, but more than likely not. The two IP edits could have been reverted with a simple "unsourced" summary because nothing seems to support that. Her hometown is most likely listed as "Berkeley" by her college bio because she attended Berkeley High, but as a child, she grew up in Richmond. Hometown doesn't always correspond to where a person grew up as a child/youth. Unless there is another source that states otherwise regarding birthplace, I think Berkeley should stick. I'm generally wary of putting a lot of weight on stat listings for birthplace (and I'll ignore the blog for now), especially when it matches their hometown and there is evidence that a player moved around as a child. For example, many sites still list Jeremy Lin as being from Palo Alto, Calif.[5], even though he's stated that he was born in Los Angeles.—Bagumba (talk) 07:52, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
