Notability[edit]

The subject is notable under WP:NPOL, item 1 "Politicians and judges who have held international, national or sub-national (statewide/provincewide) office, and members or former members of a national, state or provincial legislature." Kraxler (talk) 13:14, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad Kraxler has restored the article; I was going to do it myself. Was aghast when I saw it had been deleted; Alexander Hamilton Jr. is definitely notable enough to be included in Wikipedia. Carlstak (talk) 23:09, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recent expansion and a split article[edit]

In the past month, I found several additional sources that provided considerably better detail on the subject's life, which I added. Most important, this article had mingled some factual details about two Alexander Hamilton Juniors. The other was John Church Hamilton's son and this one's nephew. I've split this article to create the separate article Alexander Hamilton, Jr. for him, adding a comma that serves to technically distinguish the names.

But my comma is a terribly kludgy solution. I'd prefer to find consensus on the best disambiguator(s) to improve the article names. One doesn't come very naturally in this case; both were New York City lawyers, and both were addressed formally in civilian life by their military rank of Colonel. Thoughts? Without prejudice against a better idea, I moved the other for now to Alexander Hamilton Jr. (1816–1889). Dicklyon (talk) 17:10, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
