Antonym (?)[edit]
What is the opposite of after-market? — first-market? -Mardus 13:12, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Pre-installed? vendor-supplied? --Gronky (talk) 12:21, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Primary Market, see for example Chen, Zhiqi, Ross, Thomas W., and Stanbury, W. T., “Refusals to Deal and Aftermarkets”, Review of Industrial Organization, Volume 13, Numbers 1-2 / April, 1998 131-151
- or Foremarket, see for example Shocker, Allan D., “A Marketer's View of Competition and Antitrust”, Antitrust Bulletin, Spring 2007, v. 52, iss. 1, pp. 95-135 RRSnowy (talk) 18:33, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Unnecessary article[edit]
This article isn't really needed for several reasons:
- there is already an article for secondary market
- there is no significant content here
- after-market (general) is another way of saying after-market (disambiguation), but aftermarket is already a disambiguation page
- after-market (economics) would be a more appropriate title, as after-market is an economic term
I suggest useful content here be merged with secondary market. This page should either be deleted or redirected to secondary market. 70.247.168.63 (talk) 02:03, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Not quite the same thing. This article is for selling something to me and then selling something else to me. The other article is for selling something to me which I turn around and sell to someone else. Jim.henderson (talk) 23:37, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- To amplify a bit further, this article is closely related to Complementary good and other theoretical ones, and ones about practical Merchandising. Those articles, far as I see, do not present good merger targets, so the proper thing would be to rename this After-market (general) article to After-market (merchandise). Jim.henderson (talk) 21:42, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
- Aftermarket (automotive) is a more specialized article about the same topic, and in the absence of objections I intend to take down the merger flag and eventually rename this article. Jim.henderson (talk) 14:46, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
