The Maihar district is one of the 55 districts in Madhya Pradesh, India. Maihar city is the administrative headquarter of the Maihar district.Formerly part of Satna district. the Maihar district was formed on 5 October 2023.[1]
Maihar District has 3 tehsils: Maihar, Amarpatan and Ramnagar.[2] This District famous for its cement factories and Ma Sharda Devi Mandir.[3]
History[edit]
Maihar State was a princely state in India during the British Raj, located in what is today Madhya Pradesh, central India. The state had an area of 1,050 square kilometres (407 sq mi), and a population of 63,702 in 1901. The state, which was watered by the Tons River, consists mainly of alluvial soil covering sandstone, and is fertile except in the hilly district of the south.[4] A large area was under forest, the produce of which provided a small export trade.[4]

Maihar District belongs to Rewa Division. It's 6'th district of Rewa Division. It's boundary cover 's by Satna District.Having an area of 2722.79 Sq KM. Tamsa River(Tons) is major river of District.[5]
Economy[edit]
The economy of the district is mainly dependent on agriculture. Wheat are produced in the district.There are also some big industries in the district. Maihar is also famous for its Cement Factorys. Maihar also has many cement factory like KJS cement and Maihar Cement. Also produced are lime stone.[6]
Government[edit]
Maihar district has tow assembly constituency Maihar and Amarpatan Assembly constituency. Both assembly belongs to Satna Lok Sabha constituency.[7]

There is no airport at Maihar. The nearest airports are Rewa(60 km) Prayagraj (220km), Varanasi, Khajuraho and Jabalpur(154 km). Rewa(60 km) is the nearest airport, which is connected to most cities in India.

Maihar district is connected to various cities of the country by rail route.
- By Road
Maihar Bus Stand is located in the center of the city where there is frequent availability of buses to Satna, Rewa, Panna, Chhatarpur and Indore ,bhopal,Nagpur.
