I felt that "Template:Infobox automobile" was poorly suited for HD trucks so I made my own. I have used it on Mack Anthem, Mack Granite, Mack LR, Mack MD, Mack Pinnacle, and Mack TerraPro. The lineup in 2023, all the same generation with shared components.

After reading WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE I have cut back. Many entries have single and plural labels, only one would be used. "label"s will only show up if there is something in "data". I think it adapts to the article, a complete and loaded version is at Mack Granite and a stripped down version at Mack MD. Maybe it should be shorter.

"Type" and "Variants" could be Conventional, COE (cab-over-engine), Short hood, Long hood, SFA (set forward axle), SBA (set back axle), cab (day, extended, crew, sleeper, open), body type (box, dump, bus, bare chassis), low-profile, RHD (right-hand drive)

"Weight class" here is the USDOT commercial vehicle weight class.

"Electric" has plenty of room after 237.

"Transmission/Transmissions" could be #-speed manual, Syncromesh, non-syncromesh, automatic, automated or self-shifting manual, w/PTO.

"Front axle" could be beam, independent, driven, twin-steer (two axles), portal.

"Rear axle/Rear axles" could be single, tandem (2 driven axles), tridem (3 driven axles), powered/un-powered combinations, 2-speed, double-reduction, portal, lift.

"No axles". If no axles are used. deleting "Chassis" from "header300 =" (leave the "header300 =" there) will move "Drive layout" (label316) into "Drivetrain " above it.

"US English" with US SAE(metric) conversions is used. It may take more than converts to adapt it to British English.

I have no idea how to turn this into a template. Sammy D III (talk) 19:45, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
