Who was Thomas Cheseman, really?[edit]

Okay, we know he must've been wealthy and affluent, as, back then, one wasn't elected (did people even vote yet?—so maybe he was appointed?) to office unless one was a member of the nobility. So we can assume he was reasonably well educated, had a big house, ate a lot of good food, and attended many upscale social functions. Did he actually achieve anything noteworthy, though, publicly or personally? Was there anything at all remarkable about him? And perhaps most importantly, does his his family name indicate that his ancestors—or even Cheseman himself, at some point, if only just for laughs—made cheese? I don't know about you, but I won't be able to rest until some of these details are included here. I mean, otherwise he's just some anonymous English guy, right? – AndyFielding (talk) 21:50, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
