Evaluation, not notable, merge proposal[edit]

This topic about a crossbreed is not notable.

Citations: The entirety of the "History" section is about the history of the two breeds used to make this cross—that accounts for citations 4-7, none of which mention "Spanish Norman". The section "Breed characteristics" uses citations 8-10. 8 & 9 are breed profile blurbs that could well have been copied from, or provided by, the US registry organization itself. 10 is primary/self-published from the US registry organization itself. 8 is from the Kentucky Horse Park, whose website no longer mentions Spanish Norman at all. 9 is a defunct "magazine" that just looks like a fan website/blog. The "Uses" section uses 9 & 10 (see above). Citations 1 & 2 re "negative", meaning their use was just to note that "Spanish Norman" was not referenced in them. That leaves just #3, Porter/Mason's Encyclopedia, a tertiary source.
Most of the links on the US registry website are defunct. Some can be found in the Wayback Machine. A google search presents that a UK registry took it over in 2005: "The demise of the American Studbook has led DEFRA to grant world Mother Studbook status to the BAPSH Ltd Spanish-Norman Horse Studbook".
Since the only remaining content is the lead and some of the "Breed characteristics" section, and since the remaining registry is under the banner of the Andalusian group, I recommend merging into the Andalusian horse article into a new section underneath Andalusian horse § Influence on other breeds, titled Cross breeds. ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 01:48, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Spanish-Norman is a horse of warmblood type, a crossbreed of the Andalusian and Percheron. In 1991, a registry was created in the US to maintain records of the breed, and the British Association for the Purebred Spanish Horse started keeping track in 2005, eventually taking over from the US registry. The Spanish-Norman is bred primarily as a sport horse, standing 15.3 to 17 hands (63 to 68 inches, 160 to 173 cm) and predominantly grey. It should have good size bone, arching neck, broad strong loins, large muscular hindquarters, and a generous mane and tail. Individuals are required to possess 50%–75% Andalusian blood.^[1]

Oppose Meets WP:V and the GNG for a standalone article. Adequately sourced; citations do not have to be available, live, online. All breeds were "crossbreeds" at one time. Miniapolis 15:05, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose for two basic reasons. Reason number one is the Andalusian is a FA class article and I don’t want to see it crudded up with a list of every crossbreed that descended from them. Reason number two is that we have quite a few designer crossbred articles, (case in point Labradoodle, and while I am not a huge fan of the commercializing of designer crossbreds, almost all modern horse breed started out as crossbreds, and we don’t really have a crystal ball to see which ones are going to become “real” breeds, and which ones will not.
