note[edit]

I just stumbled upon this article in the context of my dissertation. As pointed out in the message box, it has numerous issues, some of which I find rather serious. I will try to make some improvements over the next couple of weeks as I am somewhat proficient in the field of cerebral small vessel disease due to my thesis. I could not find a single article using the "CHARIOT" name for this disorder and IMO it oversimplifies some things (like "the immune system consists of leukocytes"). Anyone else is wholeheartedly invited to join in. -The T-Man (talk) 12:35, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Six years have past since the last discussion point, and I agree with the above. The section on immune cells was contrived and not supported by data. The "CHARIOT" name is not commonly used name. I removed that section about CHARIOT on that basis. The more commonly accepted name now is Retinal Vasculopathy with Cerebral Leukoencephlopathy (because there is not any leukodystrophy). I also removed the immune cell section, which was not supported by references or by data that I know of, and I updated the article to include information about ongoing clinical trial and research efforts.
