Political Position?[edit]

I have no familiarity with this party but it sounds like their political position might be Libertarian/Syncretic politics rather than "center-right to right-wing". Would someone with adequate knowledge of this party please consider this thought? I've read the wikipedia article regarding "political-positions" but I'm still not sure what the conventions are for forcing parties that are outside the traditional left-right spectrum into it. Name[edit]

While this party does have an official English name (Innovation), it is almost never actually referred to by English media sources. It is pretty much always referred to as merely "Ishin" or "Ishin no Kai". It makes me wonder if the article and related pages should be edited to replace references to the English name. Recent Political position[edit]

Recently, this party has been increasingly defined by Japanese voters as centrist. [1][2][3] At the least, it is the partial view of the Korean media that has it as far right. right-wing populist?[edit]

Nah.... thats a left-wing smear term, try "libertarian".

Any party has to be populist/popular just to get elected. And why is this smear term so often associated with the political right but hardly with the left? I agree with adding libertarian to the ideology section.
As to whether JIP is a right-wing populist or not, it cannot be said that it is unjustifiable to label it as right-wing populism on Wikipedia, as some media outlets have claimed that it is. On the other hand, right-wing populism is generally regarded as an ideology with a hard-line anti-immigration stance and racist tendencies, but since the party has not shown any such tendencies, such as its support for anti-hate speech laws, I propose that it is simply a populist party. Some people still cite Hashimoto's past statements, but he is already a private citizen and his statements are irrelevant to the party, as they were made during the time of JIP's predecessor, Japan Restoration Party. It is true that the expression right-wing populist is seen in no small numbers, so Keep the status quo. So what about the expression libertarian? I think ideology should reflect a liberal-centrrism stance in cultural policy, such as the legalisation of same-sex marriage, and indeed there is a reputation for being libertarian. Alternatively, to emphasise that it is a right-leaning party, one option is to describe it as right-libertarian, like the ACT Party in New Zealand, which tends to be closer to Ishin. Conservative? Right-wing?[edit]

If some sources concentrate on economics and call this party "conservative", "right-wing", we should not take it for granted and insert it here. This is just a freedom party, maybe "libertarian" can be used, with even some very serious left-wing anti-freedom stances by Japanese standards (anti-"hate speech", universal basic income, reform of the social medical insurance system from age-based subsidy rates to income-based cost subsidies, universal access to free education from preschool to university, free access to childbirth services through a comibation of insurance and voucher system). --95.24.71.132 (talk) 11:27, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
