The statement that Sophia is named after Sofia Perovskaya is not corroborated by the Rana Mitter source listed. In A Bitter Revolution, Mitter does note that Sophie "brings to mind the Russian anarchist revolutionary" (p. 78), but that certainly doesn't mean that Ding Ling named the character after Perovskaya.
