Actually most works about Atapuerca points to the incredible numbers of small bones found on the place from 5th toe phalangers to ear bones. In many cases weren't known in H. heidelbergensis before they were discovered at Atapuerca. Look for example "Atapuerca, a world heritage site" (1998) both in film and book version.
