A definition of Ichneumon[edit]

When I was but a callow youth I read a definition for ichneumon which has stuck in my mind:

'Ichneumon:- a weasel-like quadraped (4 legs?) which destroys crocodiles'eggs" Could this be the same creature? If you have further information please confirm my memory (or not!). 82.21.23.8 (talk) 22:47, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mention by Diodorus Silicius[edit]
