Keeks[edit]

What are "keeks" ? This [1] doesn't seem to help much ... Ghmyrtle 09:44, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seconded. I intend to remove the word if nobody explains soon. Loganberry (Talk) 21:47, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Now done. Loganberry (Talk) 23:08, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I should have got here ealier. A "keek" is a fairground amusement that involves looking in through one of several available small viewing holes at the exhibit - something I am sure is familiar to people under another name. Have people really never heard of the Scots word "keek" before, roughly equivalent to "peek"? 82.12.115.25 (talk) 11:17, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Observance[edit]

The article says the holiday is no longer observed. This is not true - I work in Glasgow and my firm is among many who take the Fair Monday off. I am removing this inaccuracy. 82.12.115.25 (talk) 00:08, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've added to this page but I'm pretty new to this so do let me know if I've done anything wrong - advice much appreciated! User:Midwich_Cuckoo — Preceding undated comment added 18:13, 9 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Joceline of Wells[edit]

The article states "The fair's earliest incarnation occurred in 1190, when Joceline of Wells obtained permission from King John to hold the festivities.[2]" surely this should be Jocelin of Glasgow, the Bishop of Glasgow? In 1190 William the Lion was the Scottish monarch and Richard the Lionheart the English - John, King of England did not come to the throne until 1199. I do not have any sources other than the Wikipedia entry for Jocelin of Glasgow to back this up so have not changed anything at the moment. quizologist (talk) 10:29, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
