Failed "good article" nomination

This article has failed its Good article nomination. This is how the article, as of August 7, 2021, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: The first few sections, particularly the Origins and development section, are written with casual language that does not mesh well with project guidelines. Several sections, particularly those under the Areas and suburbs heading, are little more than long lists of blue links without enough prose to adequately separate them.

2. Verifiable?: Dozens of paragraphs lack inline citations, and there are far too many things that are under-cited.

3. Broad in coverage?: Far too much emphasis in some niche areas, such as Sanitation, Heraldry, and Language; all of these should be split off into subarticles.

4. Neutral point of view?: Did not assess.

5. Stable?: Did not assess.

6. Images?: Did not assess.

I would recommend that a major contributor be contacted before nominating this article again, or that the nominator put in some of the necessary work instead of trying to speedrun through the GA process.
