Leaked[edit]

This appears to have been leaked a few days ago and is widely available through various bit-torrent sites. Incidentally, its pretty good, but not as good as previous ones. Will definately buy it when its out tho, well worth the money 87.115.73.32 (talk) 00:16, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Examples of other films/books that were leaked a few days before offical release: The previous 2 Futurama films and the 7th Harry Potter novel. Games have also been leaked a few days before release as well. Normally it's not news worthy. Jon (talk) 22:44, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice one[edit]

According to the Beast with a Billion Backs commentary, the idea to spoof Dungeons and Dragons and the death of its creator, E. Gary Gygax, happened at around the same time, but are coincidences.

Ok, SERIOUSLY are you that dumb? it means that the idea to spoof D & D just happened to be at the same time as Gygax's death, NOT that they were parodying his death. UGH.

Ork vs Orc[edit]

Title Reference[edit]

The title is not coincidental, but as Bender's Big Score was a play on Shaft's Big Score, where the plots were hardly relative, it is likely to assume it is just a play on the name, and doesn't actually mean it will spoof the plot. Beholder[edit]

Does Dr. Zoidberg look like a beholder (a spherical creature with eyes on stalks), or like an illithid (a humanoid creature with tendrils from the mouth, much like Zoidberg's usual form)? A beholder is featured on Futurama already, I forget which episode (I believe it was Anthology of Interest Part II).

I have yet to see the trailer, just wondering if this is accurate or needs clarification.

It'd say it is a bit too speculative, though I don't think he looks like a Beholder at all. I see very little similarities between the way Zoidberg appears in the trailer and how the Beholder appears in How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back. HMV Ireland also had it for sale on Friday 31st. But, the Irish pop chart week runs Friday to Thursday not Monday to Sunday as in the UK - new singles get released in Ireland on the Friday instead of the following Monday - perhaps for this reason the official Irish release date may have been Friday? I think the normal policy is it needs to wait for the first offical release somewhere in the world; not withstanding pre mature releases / leaks. It's almost time to add the plot[edit]

I have prepared a good strong plot summary that doesn't get into too many unecessary details in my sandbox, and is 1167 words long at last count. When should we add the plot (not necessarily my summary if it's not good) to the article? Immblueversion (talk) 16:52, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to the article the first offical release is November 3rd in the UK. So that would make it either shortly over 1 hour from now (if some UK stores have annouced plans to be open at 00:01 UK Time to sell it) or about 7 hours (if not). Rdd though is sugesting that it might have been officaly released in Ireland on Friday; if that can be verified then the release section of the article needs updated (with a source) and the plot summary can go up immedately. Numerical/math references[edit]

Futurama has been well-known for its numerical and mathematical references. In this movie, the "Mental Illness: It's okay to be ashamed" pamphlet that Fry is reading at approximately 22:19 has a barcode with the value "42159176" clearly marked. Brief online searches, including the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences doesn't seem to turn up anything obvious. --Jeffrey Sharkey (talk) 13:05, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well if it help:

"The string 42159176 occurs at position 6,741,886 counting from the first digit after the decimal point. The 3. is not counted"

There's also the random stream of numbers during the intro (during the Yellow Ship part) - on the DVD commentary they suggest searching for what the numbers mean "For anyone that's interested, just pick a string of those digits and search for them on Google and see what you come up with. But yes, that is a non-random sequence of numbers when the ship flies by" i've tried googling a few substrings and didn't find anything significant - my guess is that it might be a substring of a common irrational number, possibly sqrt(2), sqrt(3), pi, e... -TinGrin 17:29, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ender's game?[edit]

It seems that this was once a part of the article but it was removed due to lack of citation. If you or someone else would like to reinsert mention of it, here's an appropriate source: Bender's Game Just a Pun. According to the article the name was chosen because the creators had been dying to use the pun since the series began, and this seemed like the last chance they'd have. The movie, as I'm sure you know, has next to nothing to do with Card's book. I agree mentioning the pun is important, as it honors a science-fiction classic. I also think it is worth mentioning that this 1985 Book call's its namesake "Bender", in a very interesting instance of "time travel" to the future, especially since the movie is about time travel back to the past. The "Bender" reference in the 1985 book is: " 'We doing OK, Ender Bender. I Rose de Nose, Jewboy extraordinaire, and you ain't nothin but a pinheaded pinprick of a goy. Don't you forget it.' Since the IF was formed the Strategos of the military forces had always been a Jew. There was a myth that Jewish generals didn't lose wars. " Ywaz (talk) 19:47, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Swamp Witch[edit]

Despite the lengthy plot summary and the cast summary, there is no mention of the best character in "Bender's Game": the Swamp Witch. Are there other characters missing from the list? First of all, her name is "Swamp Hag". Secondly, Wikipedia have some noticeable requirements. She is not significant to the plot in any way, and only works as a minor, albeit entertaining, side character. If you want a place for her to made of mention, maybe you should try something that is dedicated to Futurama alone, like The Infosphere (which does have an article about her). --Svip ^pong 18:08, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Prof. / Ignus/ Mom[edit]
