Model Used In the Furisode Picture.[edit]

I was just wondering, what is the name of the girl that modeled for this picture?

Name of the Model Used[edit]

The girl in the picture, according to Aiko (Dr. A), is her second cousin Hatsuyo. I've been given the initiative not to release her full name as it may abuse privacy rights.

Furisode Sleeves[edit]

Is the long swinging part open or just a single piece of fabric? I can't tell from any of the pictures I've seen.. AleriaCarventus (talk) 00:02, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The long sleeve is made by sewing the front pattern and the back pattern together, so that designs are always visible. So I suppose you can call it "open", as in there's an open space inside that hanging flap. The short hanging sleeves (not shown) can and are used as pockets. Long hanging sleeves are too long for that purpose, but I understand that a pocket is usually sewn into them. A woman wearing a kimono can carry some small belongings (keys, cell phone, hand-fan, etc.) in the sleeves, tucked into the obi (sash), or can carry a small purse (don't remember the official name). I think this picture's furisode is not yet make. That is not fit har. May be this is provisional meke cause har background is look like kimono shop. When buy new kimono,make up from roll of cloth. Connect pattern type kimono such as Furisode are mede provisional cause customer would like to see correct position of pattern to select.
