Politics?[edit]

My edit was reverted by someone without explanation. He was a basketball player; why do we care how he votes? If it stays, it should be cited.Dubc0724 19:42, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inducted[edit]

Bill Walton was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993.

Height[edit]

Bill Walton's height should be added to the article and i assume it was about 7 feet but its not given and i assume he played center that i dont see that either ... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.214.45.153 (talk) 12:54, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

other websites give his height as 6 feet 11 inches —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.214.45.153 (talk) 17:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at pictures of Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar standing next to one another as well as watching them on TV standing next to each other during NBA basketball games, Bill Walton is taller than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I am speculating that would be 7'2 3/4". Bill listed himself at 6' instead of 7' so psychologically the NBA referees wouldn't call as many fouls due to his height advantage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.90.245.173 (talk) 16:50, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It has been reported from time to time that Walton was significantly taller than his listed height, but didn't like what he perceived as the "stigma" of being a seven-footer. As per usual practice, the infobox should use Walton's official listed height, but since reliable sources exist that mention the issue, it is appropriate to include a mention of it in text. I've added a sentence and a couple of cites.--Arxiloxos (talk) 18:10, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

I changed around some of the wording in the article, it's pretty sloppy as it stands. If users could be on the lookout for bad grammar and questionable comments based on the writer's point of view, that'd be just peachy.JohnnyRush10 08:36, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

broadcasting[edit]

"In addition, his commentary during games is often criticized for his frequent use of hyperbole."

I don't know if he's really criticized for it. From what I've seen, his over-the-top Waltonisms are part of what makes him popular. I certainly know that's why I find him entertaining. Bill Walton did not outplay Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in their 1977 playoff series. The Trailblazers were the better team, but Abdul-Jabbar's numbers topped Walton's in every relevant statistical category (Kareem scored more points, grabbed more rebounds, blocked more shots, and shot for a significantly higher percentage from the field [61% to 50%). This is an unfortunate "myth" that has persisted for over 30 years. Walton was playing on a great team. Abdul-Jabbar was playing 1 against 5. OBA (talk) 20:01, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
