Interesting.[edit]

who has received attention for her modeling, fashion, partying, and business skills.

"partying" is a skill?

The child of a chemical engineer father (Italian-American) and a schizophrenic mother (German-American)

"schizophrenic" is an occupation? Also; why is the ethnic background of her parents relevant? Has this information been sourced? -- weirdoactor t|c 20:24, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, skills only applies to the final item, business skills. Also, just because her father's occupation is mentioned does not mean whatever is mentioned of her mother is intended to be read as an occupation. Charles 21:11, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So, you think this is a well-written article in no need of any improvement? -- weirdoactor t|c 04:01, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, but it is known that partying really isn't a skill. Charles 17:47, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Of course partying is a skill. Some people don't know how to do it at all! Sion (talk) 20:32, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And that some do it professionaly shows that it is a skill... Proxy User (talk) 16:52, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think the point Weirdactor was trying to make w/respect to the mention of the mother was: why are any of her health conditions relevant? It would seem there is a bias against mental illness. It is not necessarily relevant in her daughter's case. Please provide the genetic and historical evidence, if you believe it is. I'm not speaking about statistics, I mean a definitive link to her daughter's behavior. Would you have said 'daughter of ...an arthritic mother? This discrimination against people with brain disorders has got. to. stop. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.76.127.244 (talkcontribs) 13:55, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Noting that one or both parents of a person has a mental illness or disability is not necessarily meant to be discrimination. Genetically and environmentally, those factors may have significantly influenced the person in question. It's just more information for the reader to consider, which they may take or leave. In this article it probably should have been written more gracefully. The ethnic background of the parents is a common inclusion in many biographies that is just more information that may carry significance to the biography of the person. I think that, in general, the more factual information, the better. It gives the reader more information from which to shape a better overall picture, and creates informational bridges that, while they may not initially seem relevant and interesting, may connect to a new fact in the future. Well said, Moochoux. The detail about her mother is absolutely relevant. If she was in & out of mental hospitals, that would explain her absence from Amanda's life, which undoubtedly would've had an impact on Amanda. Our parents shape who we are. 144.178.0.204 (talk) 01:44, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction[edit]

Okay, so the article states:

  • Her first surgical operation was a sex change operation, occurred at the age of fifteen, which she received for free from her then-boyfriend, a plastic surgeon.

and then:

  • By the age of seventeen (through a legal loophole) Lepore had a full sex-reassignment operation. Which one is it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Devil Master (talkcontribs) 18:25, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Born in 1957[edit]

She is actually 64. She is in a senior high school yearbook from 1974/1975. 174.255.64.182 (talk) 07:02, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

While yearbooks may be (questionably-)reliable tertiary sources, a proper citation would be needed regardless. - Headphase (talk) 20:53, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
