Newsinger[edit]

I've been trying to pin down the "Newsinger (1999)" reference. Neither of his two 1999 books listed at John Newsinger seem relevant (the Orwell one you can search in on Amazon.com so I know it isn't that). The best I can manage is:

  • Newsinger, John (1990). "Crisis: the comic revolution?". Race & Class. 32 (2): 82–88.

Which does mention Mitchell and Third World War, as well as being focused on the topic being discussed (so it would be a useful one to use here), but I don't have access to it and the year isn't 1999, although that might be a typo. So tantalisingly close. (Emperor (talk) 02:50, 27 March 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I found the 1990 article you mentioned (now it's 30 years old!). Here's a relevant quote: "A number of issues are interwoven into Book Two of the strip: the situation in Northern Ireland, green terrorism, the psychology of British racism, black resistance, multinational exploitation of the Third World, matriarchy and the nature of male heroism." so I've updated this page with your citation.
