[Untitled][edit]

Most of these groups/bands are not "Supergroups". Supergroup, even loosly defined, is the combining of two or more entities that previously were extra-ordinarily successful, individually. Most of these entries include: 1)those that had no previous success, much less extra-ordinary success, 2)are a "Supergroup" only through affiliations, not full-time membership, and 3) are still unknown/unheard of. Their mere existance as a "Supergroup" would make that impossible. A good gauge of "Supergroup" would be The Travelling Wilburys. If the supergroup to be measured does not have the sort of history the Wilburys had, then they're not a supergroup.

FOO-Fighters are a supergroup, look @ the lineup!,,,,,,WHERES DAMAGEPLAN? also, wheres Coverdal/Page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.240.80.114 (talk) 14:57, 7 July 2009 (UTC) The foo fighters were not a supergroup, and i noticed eyes adrift is missing[reply]

I've added Eyes Adrift. --Denis C. 21:55, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Queens Of The Stone Age are missing.

Led Zeppelin[edit]

Aren't they considered a supergroup? They formed out of the Yardbirds, and they'd all been in previous bands? --Richy 12:51, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jack's Mannequin[edit]

I think Jack's Mannequin qualifies, but I'm not 100% sure. Sometimes it is described as a pseudonym for Andrew McMahon (as it is currently in Wikipedia) and other times it is described as a totally new group comprised of McMahon, Tommy Lee, Bobby Anderson, and others. Hellyeah[edit]

Hellyeah definitely qualifies as a supergroup, with members of Mudvayne, Nothingface, and Mr. Vinnie Paul Abbott.
Also, does Probot count as a supergroup?

Wolf Parade[edit]

Wolf Parade should also be considered as a supergroup, with Spencer Krug former member of Frog Eyes and current member of Swan Lake and Sunset Rubdown, Dan Boeckner of Atlas Strategic and Handsome Furs, and Dante DeCaro as the former guitarist/songwriter of Hot Hot Heat. The drummer, Arlene Thompson, has also put some work in with Arcade of Fire.

The Accident Experiment[edit]

Why isn't The Accident Experiment on the list. Members of that are from other groups. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.224.159.77 (talk) 22:35, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria for supergroup status[edit]

Hello, just curious here. :) What is the threshold used for determining whether members' previous success is sufficient for a new venture to qualify as a supergroup? I ask because some industries, like Japan's, are extremely incestuous (for lack of a better word). Almost every new band is comprised with former members of another notable band. Some, like Skin, are unquestionably supergroups. But all the rest? I just don't know. Like, is Fake? a supergroup? (Just using them as an example, I'm not fishing for a reason to categorize them as such.) I"m just looking for perspectives. :) --hamu♥hamu (TALK) 04:00, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
