Thanks to the donation of a conservation easement by The Nature Conservancy, Mountain Bogs National Wildlife Refuge was established in April, 2015. Bog conservation partners gathered in North Carolina’s Ashe County to mark the establishment. Service Deputy Director Jim Kurth spoke, as did N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Deputy Director Mallory Martin, The Nature Conservancy State Director Katherine Skinner, and Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy Executive Director Kieran Roe.
