Licensing problem[edit]

I am the author of the original work and have changed the license, and I think it is OK now. Or not ? However, I think this licensing problem on Wikipedia is a nightmare that should be fixed one day (but I sadly know it will never be fixed):

  • The picture was my own, I licensed it on a Creative Commons license, and it still was not compatible with Wikipedia Commons license.
  • The reason why it was not compatible (I think) was the "Non Commercial work". OK, I changed it to a cc-by-sa-2.0 license (commercial work allowed), but I really don't know why Wikipedia, which is a non profit foundation, would not accept such a license. There are a LOT of examples on the web of people taking photos done by others just to sell them without any retribution (and without asking, of course), so I think that not allowing this kind of Commons license is a bit too much, to say the least.
  • It is very complex and frustrating to have a speedy deletion tag on Wikipedia for images that were uploaded under a Commons license.

I could still add a special permission to have it on Wikimedia, as on other articles, but it is so complicated that I don't think I will do it if the case happens again. In short, if Wikipedia does nothing to ease own work uploading, and continue to be completely paranoid about rights and licenses when the works are brought by the authors themselves, they won't have few images material anymore at the end.
