Poster for the comic characters Tom and Jerry. These characters were produced by en:Van Beuren Studios from 1931-1933. The cartoon shorts were distributed by RKO and have no connection to the cartoon cat and mouse of the same name.
The poster has no copyright markings-at bottom is Country of Origin USA and Morgan Litho Co, Cleveland, O. 4758.
Renewal registrations in both film and artwork were checked for the years 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1961, which covers the time the cartoons were produced. There were no listings in artwork for Van Beuren Studios for this time period. There were two renewals for Van Beuren Studios within this timeframe--both were for non-animated films: en:Bring 'Em Back Alive (film) and en:Wild Cargo (film). There's no evidence of continued copyright for the cartoon characters.
