"In September 1905 the Russian and Japanese envoys met at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard at the invitation of President Theodore Roosevelt to work out a peace agreement after the hostilities of the Russo-Japanese War, 1904-1905. This postcard shows the 'Temporary home (Newcastle, NH) of Sec. Pierce, U.S. reprentative [sic] in Russo-Japanese Peace Conference.'"
