Description1974 Ford Fairlane (ZG) 500 sedan (19102653969).jpg
The ZG Fairlane was built from Nov 1973- May 1976.
These Fairlanes were based on the XA/XB Falcons, the ZG sold along side the XB, the XA was first of the completely Australian designed Falcons, this new Falcon got an entirely new rounded body. Inside the seats were improved with new high backs in the front and the new wrap around dash was likened to an aircraft cockpit. The longer wheelbase Fairlane got a twin headlight grille, the front and centre of the Fairlane remained the same as the Falcon, but the Fairlane got a longer tail, the rear seat moved back for more leg room.
From the ZF Fairlane, the facelift, the ZG, got a revised eggcrate grille and the taillight panel that spanned the full width of the car, got an egg crate look too.
Introduced in Aug 1973, was the P5 LTD, more upmarket, it had an even longer wheelbase than the Fairlane. There was a 2 door version as well, the Landau, both had concealed headlights
